09/30/06 - 09/30/06 - Jimmy ends Civil War series finally with a blown motor.
After having a good hot lap session, Jimmy and his crew went to work to get the
car right for qualifying. The car looked good taking the green flag on his
first lap of qualifying. and coming out of turn 4 the motor laid up a
little then Boom!!! Two holes to the oil pan ended his night early.
Jimmy being the classy guy he is, did not pack up and leave, but kept the car
out for his fans to come and see. Jimmy's awesome sportsmanship is just
one reason why he always does so well on and off the track. Trulli
would like to thank all the Sponsors, and loyal fans that supported us this
year.
09/16/06 - After a 15th place finish at Petaluma, Jimmy moved up 1 spot to 4th
in points. Jimmy has a shot at taking the 3rd place spot from Korey
Lovell, in the last race of the year at Placerville Speedway on September 30th.
So get out there and cheer on Jimmy this weekend as he goes for the win in the
last Civil War Race of the year.
09/11/06
- Fun times happen when the results are good, and that is exactly what we had
this weekend as Jimmy entered the Civil War Invitational on Wednesday September
6th at John Padjen Motorsports Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico CA. Jimmy's
night started out with a qualifying time of 13.415 which was 16th quick.
This put Jimmy in the 3rd starting spot for his heat race, where Jimmy lost a
couple of spots and finished in the 5th spot just missing the transfer.
This meant that Jimmy would start in the B Main in the 8th spot. Needing
to get to at least the 6th spot to make the main event, Jimmy ran hard as he was
able to pass a few cars, and end up in the 5th Transfer Spot. This finish
put Jimmy in the last row of the Main event, where he started 21st and raced his
way passing 12 cars and ended up in the 9th position.
Next
night of racing was for the 53rd running of the World of Outlaws, Gold Cup Race
Of Champions. This race is a 3 day event with 2 nights of qualifying
races, and all main events are ran on the third night. Jimmy was on the
first night of qualifying where he qualified with a time of 12.408 which was
31st quick time of the night, and put Jimmy into the heat race starting in the
8th position and was able to get to the 6th spot, just missing the Outlaw Main
event transfer spot by one position (they take the top 5). Jimmy would
then start 12th in the B main event. Jimmy lost a couple of spots and
picked up a 14th place finish. On night three of Gold Cup is where all the
main events are ran after two nights of Qualifying races. Jimmy was
starting on the poll of the E main event, and he would do an awesome job and
pick up a 2nd place finish. That advanced Jimmy into the D main event,
where he would start in the 12th position, and finish in the 8th position
passing 4 cars on the way, making him the Top finishing 360 driver of the event.
9/02/06 - Trulli Racing was in action at Placerville Speedway this Saturday
night with a new motor from Steve Scott. The night started out awesome as
Jimmy Trulli set Fast Time with a lap of 10.617. Jimmy was trying to dial
in the fuel so that he could be maximum power from the motor, and he made a
couple of changes that helped Jimmy go from his 6th place starting position, and
climb up to 5th for the final transfer spot. For the main event, Jimmy
missed the set up as the track went the opposite direction for the main event
then Jimmy was thinking it would. All jimmy could do was race hard and
keep his line, as his car was not handling like he had hoped. Jimmy was
able to pull off a top 10 finish for the first race in his last 4 races, with an
8th place finish. Although Jimmy wanted to finish closer to the front, it
was a good night for the team as they made progress on the motor, and has some
better confidence thanks to the new Steve Scott built motor as they head into
Chico CA, for the Wednesday Night Civil War Invitational show at Silver Dollar
Speedway that Kicks off the 53rd Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.
08/07/06 -
Jimmy charged his way to the front of the pack but came one car short of the
Victory and capped off the weekend with a 2nd place finish in the Placerville
Speedway Civil War Series event. The night started out with a great
qualifying run of 10.826 which was 6th fast. This meant that he would have
to start in the 3rd row of his heat race, but Jimmy is one who can pass cars in
his heat, and he did just that making it to the 4th transfer spot taking him
directly to the Main event. Now all that was left was to see where the
Pill draw was going to put the inversion at. The pill drawn was a 6, and
that meant that Jimmy would have to start in the 2nd row inside. On Lap 4
he would get by Scott Russell who but Russell would not go down with out a
fight, and he passed Jimmy back on Lap 6. Then on Lap 11 Jimmy would get
back by Scott Russell and he set his eyes on the X1 car of Colby Wiesz. On
Lap 19 the 35 car of Greg DeCaires would get by Jimmy and they both were on the
heals of Colby, and on Lap 28 Jimmy would get by the X1 of Wiesz for the second
place position. On lap 30 Jimmy was in striking distance of DeCaires, but
came up a little short and would settle for the Second Place finish. Next
Race for Jimmy Trulli will be at Calistoga Speedway for event # 10 of the
California Civil War Series.
July 16th,
2006 - The Mark Forni Memorial was a race that Jimmy has been looking forward to
for weeks, and tonight the racing was awesome. Jimmy started off by
setting fast time for the second time this year with a lap of 10.662. Then
Jimmy had to start in the first heat of the night in the 6th starting spot.
He then was able to climb to get the 4th and final transfer spot on lap 6 of the
8 lap race to go directly to the main event. After the heat race action,
Jimmy drew a pill of 0 which meant that there was no inversion and the main
would start straight up, putting himself on the pole for the main event.
In the main event, Jimmy took the lead and would lead the next 19 laps of the
main event only to be passed by the #99 of Kyle Hirst on lap 20 of the 30 lap
main event. Jimmy would then hang onto 2nd place till the 29th lap where
the 7n of Steve Kent would get by. Jimmy would hold onto the 3rd spot
which is where he would finish. It was a great night of racing, and Jimmy
did a great job battling for the lead with Hirst and Kent. Next race for
Jimmy will be on Friday July 21st with the Civil War series at Silver Dollar
Speedway in Chico, CA, then it is off to the NST Speedweek.
July
4th 2006 - Independence day action at Placerville Speedway was pretty
exciting as Jimmy Trulli and the Trulli Racing crew had a pretty good night.
Jimmy started off qualifying 3rd quick with a time of 10.600. That put
Jimmy in the 6th starting position of his heat race, and he did a great job of
passing cars, and getting the second place finish. In the main event,
Jimmy started in the 6th position, and he did a great job moving forward up to
3rd then on the last lap, somehow was shuffled back to 6th. All in all it
was a great night for the team.
July
1st 2006 - Jimmy was in action at Placerville Speedway for Pacific Sprints
Points racing action this weekend. It was a great night of racing for the
33t Trulli Racing Team. There was 26 cars on hand today, and the team
worked hard to stay on top of the game as they had a great qualifying run
of 10.663 giving Jimmy 3rd quick time for the night.
The
field was split into three heat races and they took the top 5 out of each heat
race. This meant that Jimmy would start in the 3rd heat, third row
outside. Jimmy had a really great start, as he quickly moved into the 5th
taking the spot from Billy Wallace. Jimmy then made it into the 4th place
position and had his eyes set on the 25K car of Scott Kinney. But you as
they saying goes you race with squirrels you are going to get your nuts cracked.
And Kinney was just that a squirrel. Jimmy was smart though and instead of
taking out the 25K he settled for the 4th place position and the transfer spot.
The
start of the Main was a war of attrition tonight, as many cars were wadded up
behind the leaders and Jimmy was starting in the 6th spot. Jimmy worked
his way through Traffic, and Crashes to battle to a 3rd place finish. It
was a great night for the team, and we look forward to racing back at
Placerville on the 4th of July.
June
24th
2006 - Jimmy was in action at Placerville Speedway with the California
Civil War series. This was race #6 of the Civil War Series, and Jimmy had
a really good showing tonight. First things started off with Jimmy started
off being the 27th car to take the track for qualifying. The track was
holding up good for qualifying, and Jimmy turned his fastest lap of 10.643.
This was fast enough to give Jimmy the 4th quick time of the night.
In
the heat race action, Jimmy's qualifying time sent him to 6th starting position
of the 4th heat race. Jimmy had a great start, and quickly climbed into
the 4th position, and then made the pass into the 3rd position where he was
chasing the #8 car of Richardson. Jimmy looked to the inside, but settled
in for a 3rd place finish.
The
Main event was pretty good for Jimmy, as he started in the 5th spot and worked
hard to navigate Lapped Traffic. Jimmy was smooth as he managed his passes
through lapped traffic, chasing Crockett, Sweet, and Foresberg. Jimmys 4th
place finish, keeps him in 3rd place points for the Civil War, 36 points out of
1st.
June 17th 2006 -
Jimmy Trulli Racing, and The S & S powered John Boy was in action at
California's Fastest 1/2 mile dirt track in Calistoga this weekend.
With the passing of a friend Fred Brownfield, Jimmy was racing with a
heavy heart, but the weather was awesome, and it was a great day for a
race in the Napa Valley area and Jimmy was up to the task of running
hard and fast. The night started off with Jimmy and Roger Crockett
running a memorial lap for Fred Brownfield. Then Jimmy went out
and posted the 15th fast time of the night of 18.950. This time
put Jimmy in Heat # 3 where he would start in the 3rd position.
Jimmy would keep the 11 car of Roger Crockett behind him, and the only
car to make a pass in that heat was the 67 of Shain Matthews.
Jimmy would finish in the 4th and final transfer spot taking him into
the A Main.
The Track was hard on tires tonight and Jimmy's crew threw on
some new rubber for the Main Event, as Steve Scott dialed in the fuel
system and Jimmy went to work on the shocks. The changes made were
the right ones, as Jimmy moved forward from an 11th starting position to
a 7th finish. It was a hard night for Jimmy with the loss of his
friend, but that only made Jimmy do an even better job on the track as
he raced his heart out for his friend. Our hearts and prayers go
out to Fred Brownfield's Family, Rest in peace good buddy, we will keep
em off your grass.
June 10th 2006 - Jimmy
Trulli started out the night as the 14th person to qualify, and he set a
great lap of 10.949. This was the fastest lap until the last car
of Shawn Whitney went out and beat his time. This put Jimmy in the
2nd qualifying position for the night, and giving him the 6th starting
position of his heat race.
Jimmy had a good start in his heat race, and he was able to
get around Mike Benson for the 5th position. Jimmy was then
working on trying to catch CJ Humphreys, so he could get that 4th
transfer spot (after tonight any race with only 20 cars in the field
will take the top 5). Jimmy was working hard to catch up to
Humphreys to make the pas, but Humphreys was on the move to stay in the
4th spot as he passed rookie James Sweeney. James then fell victim
to Jimmy as Jimmy made the pass into the 4th starting position giving
Jimmy his spot back in the main event as the top spot as Shawn Whitney
was unable to get his time back finishing 5th in his heat race.
Since Jimmy was the fastest Qualifier to get his time back
for the main event, He had to draw the Pill for the Main event
inversion. Jimmy was up to the task as he pulled a 4 starting him
on the 2nd row out side. The Main even was pretty strong for Jimmy
as he never let lapped trafic get in his way, and he stayed clean and
finished where her started, in the 4th position. It was a pretty
good run for the team tonight. Next Stop for Jimmy will be the
Calistoga Cup on June 17th at Calistoga Speedway. See you there.
May 28th 2006 - The
33t Trulli Racing Team was in action at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico
CA this weekend for Round #4 of the California Civil War Sprint Car
Series. There were 66 cars in attendance and Jimmy had a pretty
good running this weekend as he qualified in the 11th fast position with
a time of 13.111. This put Jimmy directly into the heat races.
On the start of the heat race, the front row had a hard time getting
things going, and the officials decided to flip the first two rows, and
that put Jimmy on the outside of the front row. This was a good
thing for Jimmy as he now had an easier chance of finishing in the top
for to qualify for the A-main event. Jimmy was looking great in
the heat race, then on the front stretch he was closing in on a car that
seemed to be going slow, and with the closing speed of jimmy he had to
hit the breaks and spun out trying to avoid hitting the slower car, but
still made some contact, and bent a shock in the process finishing in
12th. This meant that Jimmy had to run the B Main and finish in the top
6 to transfer into the money show, and he did just that. Jimmy
drove a hard race, and was able to finish in the 5th position and
transfer into the inside of the last row of the A-main event.Starting in
the 21st position, Jimmy was able to keep his S and S powered machine
moving forward and finish in the 13th position. Next race for
Jimmy Trulli will be on June 10th at Placerville Speedway for points
race #8.
May 20th 2006 - It
was the third points race of the year at Placerville Speedway, and Jimmy
was there to have a fun night of racing. The night started off
pretty god, as Jimmy went out for qualifying to set the 3rd quick time
of the night of 10.656 seconds. That time is a good time, but the
disadvantage is that he had to start at the back of the heat race on a
track that was still one grooved. Jimmy finished 6h in his heat
race, and did not get to have his time back for the main event, and
started in the 14th position. Jimmy did a great job staying out of
trouble in the Main Event, but with the track changing more than Jimmy
and his crew had anticipated - the set up was off a little. Jimmy
did keep things going straight, but finished where he started in the
14th position in the main event. All in all not too bad of a night, as
the car rolled onto the trailer. Next race is the Civil War Series
in Chico California, on Sunday May 28th.
May 13th 2006 -
Jimmy and the rest of the Trulli Racing Team was
in action at Placerville speedway this weekend for the 2nd points race
of the year. Although the racing surface was not able to be worked in
for this weekend due to the Tracks Grader breaking down Jimmy showed
just how god of a race car driver he is by setting fast time for the
night. Fast Time meant that Jimmy would start in the 3rd row outside
for his Heat Race. Jimmy had a pretty good start, and was able to climb
up to through the field and finish 2nd. The pill that for the inversion
was a 0 and that meant that Jimmy would start on the poll for the main
event. With the dry conditions at the track, starting on the inside was
a disadvantage, but jimmy was able to hold on to second on the start.
Jimmy was on the gas, as he was running the track hard, and he was able
to stay in 2nd for about 10 laps till a slide job from Scott Russell
passed Jimmy. Jimmy was on the gas handling the lapped cars, and he was
able to hold off Mark Mackay for the 3rd place podium finish. Next
Race is May 13th @ Placerville for Points Race #2. Be Sure to come in
the pits and say HI!!
May 6th 2006 - Opening
night of Civil War was a pretty good night till the last lap of the
main. Jimmy was the 11th car to take to the track for Qualifying,
and he scored himself a fast lap of 10.882, which was fast enough
for the fourth quick time of the night. This time put Jimmy in the
6th starting spot for his heat race. Jimmy quickly made his way
into the 2nd spot and transfer directly to the Main event. The
pill pull for the inversion tonight was a 4, and that put Jimmy on the
pole of the A main. It was Jimmy on the inside, and Andy Forsberg
on the outside. Andy took the lead, but Jimmy chassed him for 29
laps, chasing Jimmy were Crockett, DeCaires, and Mark Hall. Then
on lap 30, going into turn one, Crockett flat out ran over Jimmy's left
front end, taking out the front wing, and also spinning out Jimmy.
Jimmy's night would not end where it should have because of this cheap
move by Crockett gave Jimmy a 13th place finish instead of the second
place finish that he deserved.
April 29, 2006 - The rains
have come and the rains are now gone, and we finally got a race in after
5 straight rainouts. So Jimmy took his 360 sprint car to
Placerville Speedway on April 28h to run with the Pacific Sprints.
Jimmy clicked off a great qualifying run with a lap of 11.130.
This was fast enough for 2nd quick time so the night started off pretty
good. In the heat race Jimmy started in 6th place, and quickly
jumped up to third, and then he did a 360 in turn 2. This caused
him to drop back to 6th, where he finished. This meant that he
would have to start towards the back of the main event in the 13th
position. In the main, jimmy looked to be doing good until he lost
a brake rotor, causing him to have to pull in because of no brakes.
